'Over five days, the eighteen of us were taken on an extremely emotional rollercoaster.  The highs, hanging out in the French Quarter, finally finding a SONIC, and meeting Kelly Ripa, were really fun.  The lows, however, were much more dramatic.  It was very difficult to go through the first house we worked on with the owner, an elderly grandmother who had lived there most of her life, deciding with her what was too damaged to keep.  Although her family had moved into the FEMA trailer on the front lawn, she remained in the termite and mouse infested house, not completely understanding that she couldn’t stay there as we were gutting her home.  On the third day, a few of us drove through the 9th Ward.  Although it was difficult to see the devastation in this “ghost town,” it was the church that we went into that caused me to lose my composure.'            -Campus Ministry President Meghan Reardon

In late May 2007, a group from Campus Ministry went to New Orleans to help rubild post-Katrina. Next season, that group will be on a special episode of "The Word: Alive and Well" to talk about the trip, where you will hear much more of the above. Keep an eye out for the show on-line or on cable.
