CCMCommunications
AN OVERVIEW OF CCMCOMMUNICATIONS
CCMCommunications proper has only existed since 1996 as an offshoot of Catholic Campus Ministry. The concept, though, was created in 1992 with the creation of "The Word: Alive and Well", which to this day remains the mainstay of CCMCommunications' productions.

CCMCommunications is managed by the
Roman Catholic Diocese of Paterson, and the Bishop Frank J. Rodimer Catholic Campus Ministry Center. With an owned and operated state-of-the-art broadcast and production facility, and over 15 years of broadcasting experience, CCMCommunications is at the forefront of Catholic cable access television and internet broadcasting. With a reach that is far beyond the boundaries of the Diocese, CCMCommunications produces award winning and nationally recognized religious programming geared towards Catholics and Non-Catholics alike – providing a quality product with engaging content to living rooms across the nation and around the globe.

CCMCommunications produces a wide range of programming and provides a great many services, all geared at carrying out our mission of evangelization. Here is some of wht we do:
Watch and Learn
The New Evangelization
This is truly an overview show. Sit down with Father Lou Scurti and Rusty Myers, producer, and talk about not only the hsitory of the show, but the 'history behind the history'. We look at where 'the Word' has been and where it's going.
“THE WORD: ALIVE AND WELL
w/ Father Lou Scurti”

“The Word: Alive and Well” is CCMCommunications’ flagship production – produced in-house and distributed to over 45 affiliate networks nationwide, reaching a potential 9 million households. Recognized first in 2005 as an outstanding cable television program with a gold MarCom award, “The Word: Alive and Well” is a half hour talk show hosted with Campus Ministry Director, Father Louis J. Scurti. The program, showcasing a pre-recorded homily delivered at Haledon’s Jesus Christ Prince of Peace Chapel, invites the viewer to watch how the Word of Christ is not only expressed through the scriptures, but how it is applied in today’s world through the actions and experiences of our guests. Guests who appear on the show come from all walks of life – from the Diocese, from William Paterson University, from Social Service, from Community outreach -  and explain how the Word truly is alive and well through their experiences in their vocations and careers.

Take a journey into the history of the Word - about 7 years back. Meet former Word director Laura O'Neil, who worked on the show from 1994-1999
“THE WORD: ALIVE AND WELL
Liturgy of the Word Series"

Mass at the
Jesus Christ Prince of Peace Chapel in Haledon, NJ is held on Sundays and throughout the week. Housed in the same facility as the Chapel, CCMCommunications records portions of the Liturgy. For use as part of “The Word: Alive and Well”, the Gospel Reading as well as Father Lou’s homily are recorded and archived for future use. Also, a 28 minute version of the Liturgy of the Word, including all readings, the homily, and parts of the Mass itself are produced incorporating graphics and roll-ins for distribution to affiliates. These programs are also recorded as web-exclusive programming, so that after a quick turnaround guests who could not make the mass can watch on their computer desktop. “THE WORD: ALIVE AND WELL
Living the Word Series"

Using our newest communication tool, CCMCommunications travels across the Diocese to cover events with the
Remote Television Operations Center (RTOC). Events covered since the implementation of the RTOC include the Ordination of Priests, the Cathedral Concert Series, the 2005 Diocesan Youth Day, and the Rite of Perpetual Oblation for a Religious Sister Filippini. These remotes, which are covered at off-site locations from the Cathedral of Saint John the Baptist to St. Mary’s Abbey to the Chapel of St. Lucy at Villa Walsh, are recorded, edited, and packed up in a 28-minute format which is then distributed to our family of affiliates throughout the country. Many of these specials have won international acclaim, winning awards such as Videographer Awards and Omni Intermedia Awards. Click here to watch some of those productions.

DIOCESAN VIDEOS
Producing videos for various agencies with the Diocese of Paterson, CCMCommunications produces the entire project from the pre-production stage through editing and distribution. By using crews of volunteers, freelancers, and staff members, we provide on-site recording capabilities for interviews and electronic news gathering. Following shot blocking and logging, in coordination with the agency for whom we are producing this video, CCMCommunications uses its state of the art non-linear editing suite to put the final product together. Videos produced include the
2005 Bishops Annual Appeals video, and the 2006 Diocesan Vocations Plan Video.
CHAPEL SPECIAL EVENTS
Baptisms, Weddings, Special Masses, and Novenas and Triduum are just some of the special events that CCMCommunications covers in the Prince of Peace Chapel. Through two 3-CCD Parkervision Robotic Cameras mounted permanently in the Chapel, CCMCommunications can record any special event with a minimum of intrusive equipment needed on the Chapel floor. Also, any of the special masses – such as the Universality series or the Blue Mass – are recorded for use in the “Word: Alive and Well”. With a very modular setup, we can also add additional manned cameras in the Catholic Campus Ministry Center and outside the building, for events like the St. Anthony Mass Procession pictured here. These vents are also archived, and available on your desktop by

CCMCOMMUNICATIONS TELEVISION OPERATIONS CENTER
In 2003, The Diocese of Paterson, the State of New Jersey, and Campus Ministry posted funds to construct the
Television Operations Center, or TOC. Fully digital, the TOC hosts state-of-the-art television production equipment, in an owned and operated facility which has been specifically designed to the needs of producing “The Word: Alive and Well”. Using both the Chapel floor and the Center Gardens as the studio, once equipped with cameras and lighting, the TOC is a very powerful tool that rivals many professional broadcasting industry recording facilities. The Control Room also includes a professional Adobe editing system and Voice Over recording equipment.
CCMCOMMUNICATIONS REMOTE  TELEVISION OPERATIONS CENTER
As part of CCMCommunications’ continuing effort to provide our affiliates and web viewers with a better and more diverse product, the Diocese of Paterson supplied the funds necessary to design and build a CCMCommunications Remote Truck.
The Remote Television Operations Center, or RTOC, is a ‘studio on wheels”, which allows us to travel to locations throughout the Diocese to cover various events. This trailer and truck, with all of the equipment needed to create the same broadcast-quality product as our Control Room, incorporates up to four cameras and masters to MiniDV. Events recorded with the RTOC in the past have include the Ordination of Diocesan Priests, the Rite of Perpetual Oblation for the Religious Teachers Filippini, the 2005 Diocesan Youth Day, and the Cathedral Concert Series.
OTHER SERVICES PROVIDED BY CCMCOMMUNICATIONS
Other productions produced by CCMCommunications include Public Service Announcements, Music Recordings available on CD’s, and aslives and promos for our affiliate networks. Also, 30 second promos for our parent network, WPBN-TV, are produced publicizing Campus Ministry and Prince of Peace Chapel events.
DISTANCE LEARNING
In 2006, Campus Ministry signmed an agreement with the USCCB (United States Council of Catholic Bishops) and St. Francis University, whereby the Jesus Christ Prince of Peace Chapel would become one of 10 sites throughout the US in a Distance Learning Program. These distance education courses will include two-way audio and visual communications between the instructor and student. Distance learning specialists from CERMUSA (Center of Excellence for Remote and Medically Under-Served Areas, located at St. Francis) will host the courses, and CCMCommunications will manage the technical aspects on-site. To find out more,
click her to a page with an explanation about the course, and how to enroll. A page hosted by CCMCommunications can be accessed here as well.
