The show itslef is a 28 minute talk show - and from that have developed other series, all under "The Word: Alive and Well" name. Since moving to the CCMCommunications Television Operations Center in 2003, we have begun to cover events throughout the diocese of Paterson, our parnet diocese. These oproductions, available on our regular broadcast partners on television and on the website, are branded the "Living the Word" series.
The creation of this series is tied directly to the creation of the Remote Television Operations Center, created and designed specifically to cover diocesan events.
In May 2004, the Diocese of Paterson announced that the Holy See appointed a new Bishop of Paterson to succeed retiring Bishop Rodimer. Bishop Arthur J. Serratelli, from the Archdiocese of Newark, was named the 7th Bishop of Paterson, and was scheduled to take the Cathedral Seat on the 6th of July.
This presented a marvelous opportunity - to continue Pope John Paul II's 'New Evangelization" initiative, and to cover an event of historical importance within the Diocese. It also presented some technological problems, though - primary of which that we had no type of equipment available to shoot a remote production. By pulling equipment from the Control Room, and by borrowing a mini van from Catholic Charities, CCMCommunicatiosn performed the first remote ever atempted by the group - and successfully covered the Installation of Bishop Serratelli.
Many of the evnets we cover at the Cathedral of Saint John and abroad are over the 28 minute limit for cable syndication, so we offer them as web exclusives on ccmcommunications.com for a period of time. We also produce diocesan videos, in coordination with other diocesan departments which are distributed throughout the diocese.
