The Word: Alive And Well - "Pope Pius XII: Architect for Peace"
Pope Pius XII and World War II Vatican History is Sister Margherita Marchione's specialty.  Here, on a return appearance, she shares with us her research - gathered from exclusive access to the Vatican Secret Archives. "He Was a man of peace. In his lifetime, he received more praise and expressions of grattitude from the Jewish People than any other Bishop of Rome ... Yet, 60 years later, his Pope is burdened down by distortions about his so-called "silence."  Pope Pius XII, the Bishop of Rome during the Second World War, has commonly been assailed as 'Hitler's Pope'. Author, expert, and historian Sr. Margherita Marchione gets on the set to talk about that falsity, and about the 'real Pius'. Recipient of a 2006 Gold MarCom Award.
