Vatican releases to the public that the Pope is suffereing from Parkinsons Disease.

31 January 2005
Vatican annouces that the Pope is suffering from the flu, forcing cancellation of public appearances.

01 February 2005
Pope rushed to hospital due to breathing problems.

10 February 2005
Pope discharged from hospital.

24 February 2005
Pope undergoes emergency Tracheotomy, after being rushed to the  hospital again after breatheing problems due to fever and congestion.

13 March 2005
Pope leaves the Gimelli hospital after 18 days.

30 March 2005
Pope John Paul II gets a feeding tube inserted through his nose to improve his "calorie intake".

31 March 2005
-Pope has a "very high fever" related to a urinary infection.
-Pope receives the sacrement of The Annointing of the Sick and Dying (once called Last Rights)

01 April 2005
Pope John Paul II's health condition is "very grave" and his cardiovascular system is "notably comprimised".

Pope John Paul II, 264 Bishop of Rome, dies in his Papal Appartment with thousands of Catholics outside his window; Interregnum begins.

Body of Pope John Paul II lies in state in St. Peter's Basilica. An estimated 2 million people waith hours and hours in line to pay their last respecdts to the Roman Pontiff.

John Paul II's last will and testiment released.

The funeral of Pope John Paul II takes place. Immediatly afterwards, he is buried beneath St. Peter's Basilica in a coffin of three layers: one made of Cypris, Lead, then Marble.

9 days of Mourning comes to an end.

18 April 2005
The Conclave, or the meeting of Cardinals under 80, is set to start,  initiating the voting process for the election of a new Pope.
